About the Item

A rare two piece set, commemorating the Helsingborg Exhibition of 1955, and only produced for one year, for this exhibit. No Gustavsberg collection is complete without something from the H55. Cigarette Box W: 2.33 x D: 1.75 x H: 2 in. Ashtray Dish W: 3 x D: 3 x H: 5/8 in. Helsingborg Exhibition 1955, or H55 as it is sometimes known as, was a Bureau of International Expositions recognized world's fair held in the town of the same name, in southern Sweden. The theme of H55 was primarily arts and crafts, curated with the aim of showing the many ways in which modern design could be integrated into commercial items and luxury goods. The fair drew exhibitors from over ten countries (no mean feat at the time) and included the String Bookshelf by Nisse Strinning.
