Great Looking Art Deco Pair of Stylized Bronze Animal Bookends by Johannes Bosma

About the Item

Fully marked, bronze sculptural bookends of an ibex and a gazelle. Being able to truly capture the spirit or soul of a person or of an animal is what sets the best artists apart from all others. Looking at these remarkable, wild animal sculptures, Johannes Bosma has both in a gracefully and stylized, Art Deco manner managed to do exactly that. In a perfecty linear yet graceful and elegant style he has captured both the lively spirit of the gazelle and the strength of the ibex. To find a real pair made by this prolific Dutch sculpture from the Art Deco era more than made our day. The ibex comes with the inscribed name Joh. Bosma on the rock on which he is balancing (see image 12) and in the hoofs of the gazelle are the initials (JB). Both sculptures have the same foundry mark underneath as well. You can use this pair as bookends for some small books, but on display on a table or in a cabinet they will never fail to impress either. Also, because of their marvelous and untouched patina. Mind you, our fair price for this rare and very good condition pair includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just a couple of days.
