A Pair of Elephant Bookends, Signed and Dated 1929
About the Item
These handsome bookends make a great addition to any home. The trunks are up for the collectors, signifying good luck. They are dated 1929 and signed "BBC", who is the maker, but since it is not in the 1st dibs system, I have to kist them as maker "unknown". One of them also bears the paper label underneath that reads, "Bookart Creation". That may just be the outlet that sold them.
They are definitely antique and period 1929. They are in very nice condition, and are a beautiful casting of elephants rolling large balls. They are richly factory patinated in a warm soft brown color and are mounted on unusual triangular bases. A really wonderful pair of bookends.
