Vintage "E Pluribus Unum" Brass Eagle Bookends by Hubley

Presented is a pair of brass bookends, depicting Paul Revere and his revolutionary midnight ride. The bookends show Revere, mounted on horseback, with a tricorner hat and one hand outstretched, holding a lantern. Paul Revere is one of the most iconic heroes of the American Revolution, later immortalized by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his 1860 poem, Paul Revere’s Ride. These attractive bookends were crafted by S.C.C. in 1974. On April 18, 1775, Paul Revere and William Dawes set out on horseback from Boston to warn fellow patriots and the Massachusetts Provincial Congress that the British Army was mobilizing. Revolutionaries got word that the British forces planned to arrest Sons of Liberty leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in nearby Lexington, and then continue on to seize and destroy supplies and munitions in Concord...
