Minimalist Four-Panel Wrought Iron Room Divider / Screen

About the Item

A very cool and simple Minimalist four-panel wrought iron room divider / screen, circa 1970s. The screen is split into two pieces with two panels each and can be used separately or together. Each panel is 16" W x .5" D x 73" H and composed of .5" wrought iron rails, the total width of the screen is 64". The piece has a very nice original patina and is quite functional. #1209.

    SATURDAY SALE These early 20th century wrought iron hinged panels or grilles came from the 775 Grove St, Glencoe, IL home of encyclopedia publisher Frank E. Compton. Each panel weights ~100 pounds, is 74 inches high (84 inches to top of gothic finial ornaments) and 20 inches wide. As shown the total width is ~70 inches but it can be expanded or contracted as desired. The house is said to have been built circa 1910 in the Mediterranean style. Frank E. Compton lived at 775 Grove Street Glencoe, IL until 1938 with his second wife Annie Wilson Howe, niece of US President Woodrow Wilson. Additions by Armstrong, Furst & Tilton, 1928.
