Original blue painted dome top oak trunk from Sweden with wrought iron straps and side handles. Monogram and date "1837" indicate this trunk was likely a dowry or wedding present. Traditional hand-painted details include floral motif along top and front against a blue (with teal undertone) background. Wrought iron straps and side handles, lock functions with original key which must be used to open. Restored and waxed, this heavy trunk is ready to be placed and enjoyed. Signs of wear typical for age include nicks, scratches, various age related separation of wood along top, front and interior bottom, multiple cracks, etc. This wear does not impact the strength nor functional integrity of the trunk which is ready for use.
