Qing Dynasty 19th Century Brown Lacquered Coffer with Brass Hardware

About the Item

A Chinese antique Qing Dynasty period coffer from the 19th century, with brown lacquer, brass hardware, horse hoof feet and rustic appeal. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this coffer features a long rectangular top with removable panel, accented in its center with a brass lock. This unhinged panel opens up to reveal an unfinished interior convenient to store various items such as blankets, books or shoes. The façade showcases a recessed structure accented with slightly raised panels. Raised on four short horse hoof feet, the ensemble is entirely covered with a brown lacquer enhancing the piece's general simplicity. We review all of our pieces and address issues we may find before they leave for your home; however, this is an antique piece, and as such it will keep its character and some imperfections, which is the quintessence of antique and vintage furniture. With its clean lines and interesting features, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period brown lacquered coffer from the 19th century will make for a useful and exotic storage unit in many homes, placed in a living room or bedroom.

Qing Dynasty 19th Century Compound Cabinet with Brass Hardware
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese Qing Dynasty period compound cabinet from the 19th century, with four doors, hidden drawers and brass medallions. Created in China during the Qing dynasty, this compound cabinet features a smaller chest stacked on top of a regular sized cabinet. Compound cabinets were used for storage. The top would contain out of season clothing while the main cabinet would be used as a wardrobe for everyday use including bedding and clothes for the season. The cabinet showcases a natural finish perfectly complimenting its linear silhouette. The main section's doors open thanks to a traditional brass medallion with teardrop pulls and petite key, to reveal inner shelves and hidden drawers offering great storage opportunities, while the ensemble is raised on straight feet connected to one another through an apron on three sides. 18th Century Qing Dynasty Fish Shaped Cricket Holder
Located in Incline Village, NV
Uniquely fabulous and highly unusual item for those seeking something different; this 18th century "cricket holder" from the Qing Dynasty is in the shape of a fish and is made of hand wrought metal, with nice detail and an open woven body which provided air to the cricket. A sophisticated clasp locking mechanism on the underneath of the fish kept the pet cricket contained in the caged holder. Obviously this was intact when someone at some point in time tried to remove whatever was inside by making a hole at the base of the tail to get it out (see image). This hand held cricket cage holder is in very nice and all original condition, save for the small hole; not fragile in any way; sturdy in structure with no repairs. For over 1000 years the Chinese have used crickets...
