We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning, circa 1880 hand painted Romanian clothes trunk or marriage coffer chest I have recently purchased a very large collection of these original, antique painted wardrobes and trunks, I have around 15 wardrobes and 20 trunks in total, each one totally different, this sale is for the piece listed above with all others being listed under my other items This one is an good looking well made and collectable piece, the hand painted detailing is exquisite throughout and has aged wonderfully, there is a lot of metal strap work which looks glorious and campaign...

Antique German Baroque dome top painted walnut sea chest, dated 1784. The chest having a hinged dome top with iron strapping, the interior of the lid having hand-forged strap hinges and original hand-forged iron lock...

The chest has dark reddish brown lacquered wood on the outside and the inside is lined with tan imitation leather material. There are three brass latches, one large one in front and a smaller one on each side next to iron handles. The sides are edged with thin sheets of overlapping lacquered wood having imitation stitching. The lid is attached to the bottom with three brass hinges. There is a small rectangle of Chinese lettering on the inside of the lid. Red Chinese Trunk.
