Genuine 1920 Goyard Steamer Trunk from Hildegarde Collection
About the Item
The lock of the trunk is engraved with "E. Goyard Aine, 233 rue St Honore Paris". This trunk has all brass fittings that maintain their original patina and coating. The handles were also made from brass and are both in tact. The interior holds one large full size basket and another level with two additional compartments in excellent condition.
From the estate of the famous vaudeville singer and performer known as Hildegarde. She was on the cover of LIFE magazine in 1939, was nicknamed the "First Lady of Supper Clubs" by Eleanor Roosevelt. Her career lasted through the 1970s and she passed away in 2005 at the age of 99. She had an extensive collection of Louis Vuitton and Goyard trunks, many having been acquired from other famous friends, including Liberace. She used them to store her music and memorabilia.
