20th Century French Shop Mannequin By Buste Girard, c.1920
About the Item
A lovely shop display mannequin dating to the early part of the last century. This quality vintage French mannequin or Taylor's dummy dates from around the 1920s era and has a slack steel base with the quality makers stamp “Buste Girard“ at the bottom. The neck retains its original finial and the fabric is in very good condition with only slight wear in keeping with its age. The distinguishing feature of this mannequin however is its size as it clearly catered for a “larger” clientele. A European size 52, it is the International equivalent to an XL or XXL, making this example an extremely rare example indeed. A wonderful addition to any vintage clothing or costume jewellery shop, or simply as a stand-alone item of vintage memorabilia.
