Antique Hand Carved Oak Wood Wall Coat Rack with Deer Head Sculptures circa 1890

About the Item

One of a kind coat-rack with hand carved oakwood deer heads. With hand carved items being one of our favourite, we are always thrilled to find rare hand carved antiques. Especially ones that we have never seen before and that are unique. So we certainly were thrilled to find this unique wall coat rack and the fact that it is in such amazing condition made us even happier. Finding antiques in this incredibly good and untouched condition is getting ever harder. This perfect size and great design coat rack has an amazing patina, it comes with a perfect set of 8 brass hooks and 8 very decorative hoef hooks above them. However, what makes this unique antique really stand out are the finely detailed and perfectly hand carved wooden deer busts on either side. Their life-like and realistic heads with the beautiful horns, ears, noses and more make them an absolute joy to look at. Antiques like this make coming home after a day of (hard) work extra rewarding, because this kind of quality and beauty will never fail to impress. If you like this unique antique coat rack as much as we do then you will love our price. Also, because our price for this hand carved gem includes perfect packing and even worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. • Small Early 1900s Renaissance Revival Wall Coat Rack with Carved Mask Sculptures
    Located in Lisse, NL
Antique oak wall coat rack with incredibly well carved head sculptures. This marvelous antique Dutch coat rack is special, practical and highly decorative. It is special, because of the quality of the unique carvings and its excellent condition. It is very practical, because of its small size, its strong brass metal hooks and the ease with which it can be mounted on your wall (via a pair of strong metal hooks on the back). It is highly decorative, because of the wonderfully hand carved details in the Renaissance Style including the three head sculptures. Especially these Renaissance heads with their characteristic hairdo, hats and colars are carved with marvelous detail. This can only be the work of a master carver and the beautiful patina on this antique work of beauty also is second to none. The handcrafted, brass, Gothic design coat hooks...

  • Antique Wall / Corner Coat Rack w Carved Rams & Embossed Leather by M.J. Slager
    Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and highly decorative, work of art coat rack. When we find an antique that is this good in terms of its design AND in terms of the quality of the workmanship then the first thing we do is to look for a signature. And we were really (and pleasantly) surprised to find the signature of MJ Slager in the far right, bottom corner. Only once before have we seen and owned and sold another stunning antique by this highly skilled artist. And when you realize that there have never been any other pieces of this artist available on the internet anywhere (apart from the stunning folding screen that we sold via 1stdibs and that you can see in image 19 of this listing) then you will understand how special it was for us that this coat rack by MJ Slager too landed on our path. Thinking of the odds of this happening, we can only describe it as a blessing. Like we described in that previous listing: when you look at the beauty, the detail and the overal workmanship it is unbelievable that such a skilled artist did not go on and have a bigger career. As more often has been the case here in Holland, maybe the first world war had something to do with it. So this antique coat rack is unique for more reasons than one, but one of them is the design. Antique corner coat racks...

One of a kind coatrack with inlaid geometrical patterns and unique animal 'sculptures'. With the Arts & Crafts era being one of our favourites, we are always thrilled to find antiques from that era. Especially ones that we have never seen before and that we never expect to see again. We could not be more thrilled to find this unique and pure Dutch Arts and Crafts coat rack and the fact that it is in such amazing condition made us even happier. Finding top quality antiques in this incredibly condition is getting ever harder. This large size but undeep coat rack has an amazing patina, it comes with a set of four perfect brass hooks and several smaller ones as well. They all have the perfect patina and the circular mirror too is the original one and certainly in good enough condtion for you to check your good looks before leaving. However, what makes this remarkable Arts and Crafts work of beauty stand out from anything we ever saw is the combination of geometrical inlays and the unique animal 'sculptures'. Around the turn of the century (so between 1890 and 1910) many Europeans first started to learn about exotic animals in countries far away. The artisan whom created this work of art coat rack must have heard about or seen a first photo of a komodo dragon...
