About the Item

Magnificent and ultra rare Black Forest style wall coat rack. Striking European design from the 1900s. Solid oak frame with a hand-carved sculptured double-headed eagle. Four patinated brass decorative hooks. This wonderful Black Forest style wall coat rack is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. We will ship this lovely piece of furniture in a custom made wooden crate for safe transport when purchased by overseas buyers. Adoption of the double-headed eagle in Serbia, Russia and in the Holy Roman Empire begins still in the medieval period, possibly as early as the 12th Century, but widespread use begins after the fall of Constantinople, in the late !5th Century. Our gallery is a family-owned and managed company which has been dedicated to dealing in 20th century Decorative Arts since it's foundation in the late 1920s. We supply customers around the world from our headquarters in Amsterdam and our new showroom in Cruquius near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. We ship worldwide and our team of experienced packers will wrap and pack your item carefully.
