Postmodern White Metal Coatrack with Multi Colored Hooks by Ugo Nespolo. Funny colourful standing coat rack "Albero dei cappelli" by Ugo Nespolo for Origlia Italy Pragma (marked) from the 80s. White lacquered wooden frame on a dark cast iron foot, ten multi-colored hooks in the shapes of hats. Weighty cast iron base. Ugo Nespolo is an Italian Designer, painter and sculptor, particularly known for his experimental films, his applied arts works and his artistic collaborations in advertising, theatre and literature. His career as an artist started in the 1960s and his work was influenced by Pop Art, which was becoming popular in Italy at that time. He met and appreciated these movements during his frequent trips to the United States. After the first trip in 1967, he regularly visited the States, where he spent long periods especially during the 1980s. Since then, irony and transgression are part of his art and characterise Nespolo's work in the years to come. Despite the American influences, he does not forget the influence of the European avant-gardes. He is also interested in design and his research embraces attention to materials: wood, metals, glass, ceramics and precious stones. His art is, therefore, closely connected to daily life and full of conceptual contributions: "you can't make art without thinking about art". In 2016 he signed the Art Manifesto, an international art movement that promotes many notable initiatives like the Corporate Art Awards.
