19th Century French Gothic Hall Tree
About the Item
19th Century French Gothic hall tree is a masterful study of the design that was originated in 12th century France and has enjoyed revivals every century since! The artistic arcs of the pierced gallery atop the crown are flanked by spires, and overlook the molded apron of the crown below, which is flanked by rosettes and pendant finials. A wise cleric appears directly under the shadow of the crown, surrounded by geometrically inspired molding. Just underneath is the top tier of four brass hangers, with a pair each on the sides below that, flanking a stunning upper panel with elaborate molded detail centered with a pointed moorish arch framing the beveled mirror. The mirror overlooks a small piece of marble set upon the centered drawer projection which is fitted with a bronze ring pull. Both the crown and the drawer projection are supported by buttresses. The lower tier consists of three linenfold panels upon which is mounted a brass rail intended to support umbrellas and canes which set in the pan below. What a perfect way to greet friends and relatives in your foyer!
