About the Item

A freestanding Georgian style mahogany and mahogany veneered stand. Each side with wooden pockets below four brass newspaper rails. Designed for the display of newspapers and magazines. The vertical rectangular form with an arched top, molded edges, and vase shaped finials. Each pocket with contrasting fruitwood crossbanding. The vertical supports with contrasting veneer extends into four splayed legs with brass caps and wheels. The top with a stenciled insignia of the hotel George V, 31 Av. George V, 75008 Paris, France. Circa 1950.
