About the Item

This all original 1965 Dextra Bellyboard practically explodes with vibrant shades of spring green. Graphic flowers and leaves adorn the deck and are accented by a solid green bottom. A wonderful slice of vintage California surf lifestyle and a perfect compact size to hang on a wall or prop in the corner of even the smallest spaces. Belly boards and Paipo boards were not cut down surfboards but rather a unique miniature surfboard developed for easy transport and fun in large and small waves by novice and experienced surfers alike. Collectors and decorators alike appreciate vintage belly boards such as this because they offer authentic vintage surf culture impact in an easy to hang item that requires a relatively small space. This board was made circa 1965 by the Dextra surfboard company located in COSTA Mesa, California. Dextra produced extremely short run, limited edition, creations in colors and fabrics that quite frankly no other surf company could match. This is one such edition that we love the look of. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. This board shows genuine wear. It has dings, cracks, and war-wounds from the surf. That said, the colors are vibrant, the design incredible and it is a wonderful eye catching whirl of surf culture from times gone by.
