About the Item
Angelo Testa was born in 1918 in Springfield, MA. He studied fine art painting and sculpture at the Chicago Institute of Design, during the 1940s.
In 1947 he set up Angelo Testa & Company, producing hand screen-printed and woven textiles for the many architectural studios of Chicago. Testa collaborated with several companies, including Schumacher. He approached his textile design like an abstract painter: He was interested in form and line and considered his production to be particularly well suited to the new minimal approach towards architecture. His work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among other institutions.
