Maharam pillow Layers Park by Hella Jongerius 004 Indigo/White Layers Park combines Hella Jongerius' fascination with the manipulation of traditional manufacturing methods with an exploration of dimensionality. Jongerius collaborated with Maharam to conceive a method of binding multiple layers of wool felt with embroidery. Layers is available in a combination of single and double -layer variations, in which hand-cut windows of pattern reveal an underlayer of either tonal or contrasting wool felt, adding a distinct artisanal character. The three embroidered patterns recall various landscapes: the plan view of Layers Garden, the architectural framework of Layers Park; and the irregular grid of circles of Layers Vineyard. Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job. Hella Jongerius (b. 1963, the Netherlands) is an industrial designer working from her Berlin-based studio, Jongeriuslab. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 1993, Jongerius has fused industry to craft, high technology to low, and tradition to the contemporary by reintroducing an artisanal hand to the industrial process throughout her work with furniture, ceramics, and textiles. The Dutch design collective Droog produced much of her early work, while later she developed in-depth relationships with companies such as Vitra, IKEA, Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, and the Japanese design firm Cibone. 95% wool, 3% nylon, 2% polyester.
