Large custom made one-of-a-kind luxury cushion (pillow) created from an exquisite rare vintage pure silk Cartier fashion scarf in a striking print named ‘La Route des Indes’, translating to English as ‘The India Road’. It illustrates exotic elephants in procession adorned with fabulous opulent jewels. They spiral around the square frame one behind the other whimsically ascending in scale. The most magnificent of all leading at the front in a statuesque pose and elaborate decoration. Their eyes are pave set with previous stones of emerald and amethyst and the gold elephants continue along the boarder as well.
Cartier is a luxury Parisian empire which originated in 1847 with Louis-François Cartier and is recognised all around the world for their high end creations. The lavishly bejewelled exotic oriental creatures appear to be a reference to the brand’s signature necklaces, bracelets and earrings; ‘Tanjore’, and ‘Djigar’ necklaces, “Rajastan’ bracelet and ‘Gupta’ brooch. This particular peachy coral pink with jade green accents and a glorious subtle sheen is one of the most spectacular examples we have come across.
The fabric was personally hand-picked by Katie at antiques market ‘Marche aux Puces Saint-Ouen’ on the outskirts of Paris.

(The original designer/brand has been fully credited below) Description: Custom-made one-of-a-kind pair of luxury cushions (pillows) created from an exquisite ‘vintage collection’ silk Echo fashion scarf in a peachy pink color with stylized Classic shell design. A very delicate silk in perfect unused condition and beautifully soft to the touch. From a vintage designer boutique in Palm Beach, Florida. In 1923 Americans Edgar & Theresa Hyman founded ‘Echo’ scarves on their wedding day, naming the company by using his initials. The business grew and was strong enough by 1929 to survive the Depression. Echo was one of the most prominent and prolific manufacturers of women’s patriotic scarves during wartime. They described the wartime culture and encourage optimism through propaganda, many displaying instructional directions. The scarves in this period used nylon and other non-essential fabric. Interestingly in 1984, ‘Echo’ became the sole licensee for Polo/Ralph Lauren scarf...

Custom made one of a kind luxury cushion (pillow) created from an exquisite vintage silk Liberty of London fashion scarf in a hot pink paisley pattern, particularly popular in the Victorian era. Paisley print is an iconic design emblematic of the Libertys’ style. Note the early style Liberty logo. It is made from the most luscious, soft silk with a dazzling subtle sheen. Founded by Arthur Liberty, the world famous British department store Liberty of London began trading in 1875 in a small shop called East India House, by the 1920s it was a leading establishment. Liberty was not a designer himself but a businessman who had a gift for recognizing talent and new trends, hiring the top designers of the time. By the 1950s the store had a seasonal brochure dedicated solely to its scarves and still today a third of the ground floor of its magnificent mock-Tudor London flagship store is devoted to scarves. A fabulous mixture of delicate pinks and peaches on a ground of hot pink verging on neon it’s both traditional and modern.
