Pair of orange floral pattern Suzani vintage decorative pillows. Handcrafted with a basket weave orange linen backings. Textile from Central Asia. In shades of soft orange, purple, bright orange, brown and yellow. Suzani decorative pillow handcrafted and designed in the USA. Handstitched closure (no zipper.) custom made pillow insert. Suzani is a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Suzani comes from the Persian Suzan which means needle. The art of making such textiles in Iran is called Suzandozi (needlework). This vintage piece from Uzbequistan was handmade in the traditional Suzani embroidery technique and consists of delicate silk embroidery on a cotton backing. Suzani embroidery, which is made with a tambour hook, is a Classic central Asian textile characterized by flowers and meandering vines….. These artisanal, textured textiles are traditionally used as wall hangings or as a woman’s marriage dowry. The Suzani’s decorative embroidery is also thought to possess a protective element.
