This "Indian Market Commemorative Blanket Series NO. 1". Maria & Julian Martinez, First Indian Market, 1922. This is a limited edition wool blanket #140 of 1000. Produced by: Native Jackets. Swaia (Southwestern Association for Indian Artists) Santa Fe Indian Market. One side of this blanket is black with gray Avanyu and Feather graphics and on the other side it is gray with design in black. The Avanyu is a mythical water serpent who is believed to bring storms and sudden change. Feathers are symbols of honor and the creative forces. Sold as new in the box , never used , still with original tags. Box label reads John Andrews Avanyu, black , size is 64 x 80, 82% pure wool and 18% cotton, ed. #140.
