The Royal System shelving unit went on to win the gold medal at the Finland Furniture Fair in 1950 and silver medal at the XI Triennale di Milano 1957 and remained a hallmark of Scandinavian modern design throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Versatile and flexible floating bookcase that allows for continuous rearranging to suit individual needs. This original Cado Royal System is suitable for both living room, home office or library. The cabinet with the sliding double doors also has one height adjustable shelf. The display cabinet features the original glass doors with etched motifs and one glass shelf. Exceptionally rare sea green gilded Holmegaard figural decanter and stopper designed in 1926 by Jacob Bang -The body of the decanter is his torso and legs -his arms are the twin handles and his head is the stopper-with the pourer formed into his collar. The similar female version of this decanter is documented in McConnels' Decanter book and an example resides in the Holmegaard Museum. The Holmegaard Glass factory was built in 1825, founded by Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe. They made glass bottles at first, and then branched out into tableware in the 1830's. Glazed Ceramic Light Sculpture by Birthe Aksby, Denmark, 1970s
Located in Benalmadena, ES
Expressive light sculpture by Danish ceramicist Birthe Aksby, crafted in glazed ceramic with organic designs inspired by plant forms and marine corals. The composition evokes natural growth, with volumes emerging from a textured and perforated structure, allowing light to flow through its openings and create an atmospheric play of shadows. The pale glazed patina enhances its sculptural presence, lending it an ethereal character and an almost mineral quality. Birthe Aksby, active in Denmark during the second half of the 20th century, is renowned for her mastery of fine ceramics and her exploration of nature-inspired forms. Alongside this remarkable piece, a newspaper clipping was found mentioning her work exhibited at Galerie Gammel Strand in Copenhagen, alongside ceramicist Lizzie Thyssen...
