Black Forest furniture dates from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s and although most people believe Black Forest originated in Germany, or Austria, it was also made in France and Switzerland and the Swiss are the ones who invented the style in the City of Brienz. The original carving of Black Forest furniture and small animal sculptures was driven by the Tourist trade. Old Plank was fortunate to be able to purchase an entire room of Black Forest furniture from a chateau in the South of France. The price includes our Old Plank upholstery department covering the suite in a linen fabric, or in your fabric.

We have had our share of antique, or supposed to be Antique French mahogany Louis XVI style bookcases, however most tend to be constructed during the 1950’s. This Antique French Ebonized Bookcase is the real deal and is a genuine antique, which our inhouse Old Plank restoration department beautifully restored, with an old school ebonized finish. The French Louis XVI bookcase was completely disassembled (makes for easy ingress and egress), hand-stripped to the bare mahogany wood, restored as necessary and refinished in this deep black Napoleon III style ebonized and brass exterior.
