About the Item

This 1900-1910 Persian Malayer carpet consists of a cotton warp, handspun wool weft and hand-knotted handspun wool pile. Its bright oranges, reds, blues, and golds were created using organic vegetable dyes. The neutral creams and browns throughout the rug add a subtle contrast and balance to the piece, creating an overall softness throughout the design. The band of blue throughout the mid-line provides a sophisticated pop of color while adding to the interest and uniqueness of the carpet. With its magnificent border, extremely fine weave and exceptional condition, it is a beautiful example of a Malayer Tree of Life carpet from this period. The size is 4'1" x 6'2", and it is in excellent antique condition.
