This garden design Bakhtiari from the Feredan village consists of a cotton warp and handspun wool weft and pile. The bright reds, blues, greens and pinks in this carpet were all created using organic vegetable dyes, and the asymmetrical quality of the handspun wool lends a beautiful depth to these natural colors. The artist used undyed wools for the gray and taupe areas of the rug, which balances the other colors and adds a softness and tranquility to the piece. This rug is a great example of garden design from the Bakhtiari region, its motifs including birds and roses as well as other elements from the surrounding landscape. It is a one-of-a-kind improvisational design. The rug measures 4'3" x 6'4", and it is in excellent vintage condition.
