Old Afghan Taghan Purdah (Door Hanging)
About the Item
An interesting old Afghan Taghan Purdah (door hanging) from the region of Balkh which is on the plain of Afghan Turkestan.
This example is very similar to the one published by R.D.Parsons in his book ‘The Carpets of Afghanistan’. See colour plate 39. Note the design in the central panel of Turkmen trees.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for heavy domestic use, a tough hard wearing rug.
