3.6x5.7 Ft Unusual Mid Century Handmade Anatolian "Tulu" Wool Rug with Trophies
About the Item
This one-of-a-kind vintage tulu rug is made of hand-spun and hand-dyed lamb’s wool, therefore it is very soft, luscious and feels comfortable under feet. It has a palette of soft and rich colors such as ice blue, pink, lavender and cream as well as scarlet red, burnt orange and chartreuse. The rug has a niche design with what look most probably like hand and comb motifs all over.
Rugs of this sort with idiosyncratic designs and lustrous wool pile were produced for daily use by nomads and villagers in the Konya region of Central Anatolia until the 1970s. Today they are considered collectible as each of them is one-of-a-kind and represents a disappearing form of textile and tribal art.
