6x9 Ft Antique Caucasian Lori Pambak Kazak Rug, Excellent Condition, Circa 1880

About the Item

This exquisite South Caucasian Kazak rug features a central medallion rendered in a serene dark sea green layered with contrasting tones of madder and white in the form of motifs such as ram's horns, dragons and hooks set against a very vivid and rich madder field whose ends are delicately decorated with earring motifs, leading into another layer of serenity in the spandrels in beautifully abrashed tones of sea blue. Echoing the overall delicate yet bold impact of the field, the borders in their contrasting tones of white and indigo are equally beautiful and interesting to look at with the well defined dainty little floral motifs in cheery yellow and red and the very slender stems on them. The sense of joy and happiness in the assortment of such delightfully colored little motifs in the borders, reminiscent of shiny tiny beads or candies in glittery wrapping, is hard to miss. One can keep looking at this gorgeous rug if only to unlock the meanings of its brilliant juxtapositions: Soothing colors blending harmoniously into vibrant ones, bigger, bolder geometric motifs whose impact is defined at the borders with the daintiest, most elegant florals. The pleasant element of surprise in this rug is something that a curious and discerning eye would love to behold. The rug is in excellent condition, has a wool pile and features natural dyes. Measures: 6 x 9 ft.
