About the Item

74292 Antique Russian Caucasian Kazak Rug, 04'04 X 08'06. Based on traditional designs from the Caucasus region, this hand knotted wool antique Caucasian Kazak Rug features seven octagon medallions, each filled with ram's Horn motifs and stair-step lozenges and small squares uniting to form a small cross. The octagonal medallions float on abrashed red field and surrounded by eight-point stars, rosettes, S-hooks, birds, gazelles and an array of other tribal motifs. Two main borders are made up of a rosette border and star compartmental border. The running water guard bands and flanked with very thin barber pole stripes. Rendered in variegated shades of red, scarlet, ruby red, ink blue, navy blue, sky blue, tan, beige, ecru, taupe and sand. Desirable Age Wear. Abrash. hand knotted wool. Made in Caucasus Region (Old Russia). Measures: 04'04 X 08'06.
