Antique Caucasian Olive Green Border Wool Seychour 'Zeikhur' Rug, 1880-1900

About the Item

An antique Seychour rug, South Caucasus. The charcoal-black field with overall diagonal rows of stylized multicolored bold and serrated floral boteh. In the sandy-yellow border of stylized polychrome sunburst palmettes and angular vine between ivory and blue flowering vine stripes. Outer barber-pile stripes. Unusual design for this type more associated with Shirvan group. Design is well drawn with well-balanced colors. This rug has slight wear to the top pile mainly on the field. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, this piece is in good usable condition. Very nice furnishing piece. Attractive. The measurement of this rug is 190 × 127 cm (6' 2" × 4' 2").
