Antique Caucasian Surahani Baku Runner, Circa 1900

About the Item

A bold and handsome example of the Surahani Baku garden design, this rug was handwoven in the Caucasus mountains, perhaps in the east central region. With brilliant colors of reds, blues, green and ivory this rug would have a visible presence in any setting. Wool used to make this rug is of high quality and all dyes are organic, such as dark blue extracted from tropical plants, shades of reds from pomegranate skins, onion skin for the ivory and so on. There are no restorations on this carpet and it is found to be in excellent condition.
