Antique Tribal Caucasian Carpet, Circa 1910s

About the Item

From the border area between Persia and the Caucasus, this geometric gallery carpet features four eight-lobed, connected medallions in sand and straw on an abrashed red-brown ground, with central hooked octagon motives. Hexagons and ashiks decorate the field while the five narrow borders in light blue, soft red and faded teal show scrolls, rosettes, flip-flop bud vines and stylized leaves.
