Antique Shirvan Karagashli Rug - Middle of 19th Century Shirvan Karagashli Rug

About the Item

Middle of 19th Century Shirvan Karagashli Rug Size 118 x 173 cm (46,45 x 68,11 In) This small, stunningly beautiful and extraordinarly fine Shirvan of the so-called ‘Karagashli’ group is of the highest quality, both in material and in aesthetic terms. The unusually archaic Karagashli red medallions have been placed in a night blue field. The stunning yellow field is densely filled with the ‘leaves and calyx’ pattern. The piece is in overall very good condition for its age. Antique Shirvan Karagahli is a type of carpet woven in the Caucasus in the mid-19th century. These carpets reflect culture and history using vibrant colors, geometric patterns and symbols. There are four large diamond-shaped motifs in the center of these carpets. These motifs contain geometric shapes. The edges of these carpets are also decorated with complex designs. These rugs are considered a testament to timeless elegance and enduring quality.
