About the Item
Hand knotted in fine quality wool, this 6x13 antique Khotan rug hails from East Turkestan circa 1920-1930. Featuring an abrashed pink backdrop, the sketch carries three beige-brown medallions alternating in pattern. The medallion pattern lays cocooned in floral elements further enveloped in a seamless geometric pattern witnessing salmon, off white and beige tints for heightened elegance. Connoisseurs may note the presence of the ay gul rosette medallions, cloudband medallions, several Buddhist motifs, and a variety of borders including the cloudband border with punctuations of black for a rich movement to the repetition. Existing in healthy condition, an exceptional piece well suited for entryways, hallways, corridors, short staircases and kitchens following a neutral palette welcoming transitional Oriental style. Especially versatile in near-gallery rug size for appropriate spaces. Especially ideal for country homes, farm houses, cabins, ski lodges and even foyers.
