Mid Century Khotan Transitional Pink and Beige Wool Rug by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Originating from East Turkestan in (year), this mid century transitional Khotan rug from Rug & Kilim features a finely woven, uncommonly repetitious all over field design. Hand woven in high quality wool, a unique contrast is employed between the non-outlined pink field symbols and the richly outlined depictions throughout the borders, likely intended to highlight the important regional symbolism in the center. The field celebrates continuously drawn pomegranates on branches with seedlings (important Khotan symbols of fertility and bounty) against the beige and earthen brown border, strongly resembling a harvest field. The multiple borders also wrap continuously around the field, but feature an assortment of eastern symbols such as royal Chinese ruyi clouds, as well as two distinct black and green vine scroll patterns whereas many other pieces have only one vine scroll. Quick and easy to clean.
