Ruby Red Ersari Turkmen Rug with All-Over Geometric Pattern, 1930s

About the Item

A classic Turkmen Main carpet distinguished by a unique tonality of ruby red for the background. The allover pattern composed of three parallel rows of octagonal devices is a characteristic feature of the Ersari Turkmen tribe, located near the oasis of Bukhara in Central Asia. Rugs of this type have always been appreciated for their intrinsic material quality, employing a silky wool which enables a relatively fine knotting. A classic heirloom carpet with a unique color that makes it suitable even for the most contemporary interior.
