About the Item

Hand knotted in wool and silk, 9x12 modern rug “Library of Forms” hails from our Artist Collaboration collection, named for the abstract design of inspiration by celebrated modern artist Brian Coleman. On the Design: Coleman’s design is a play of gray, off-white and black tones underscore geometric patterns almost like charcoal drawings, with a fabulous play of abstract minimalist and positive-negative elements that use the limited palette and subtlety beautifully. Subtlety is one of the many skillful details at work here, where such playful figures are executed in such a subdued manner that the movement is all the more intriguing and artful—a masterpiece in this way, as in its adaptation of refined geometry to this large-size, scale and texture, the finest in our craft today. Silk’s natural sheen in this skillful juxtaposition of colorway allows the brighter notes to come to life against the deeper pallet with a bold sense of movement and gravity in this 9×12 edition where the dimensionality and depth our loom achieved captured the splendor of the original work of renown.
