Vintage hand knotted Afghan area rug in a plum/deep burgundy color from the mid 1900s. The beautiful Afghan area rug has an all over geometric design with octagonal medallions called “Gul (flower)” set in a plum color background with the medallions in dark burgundy and midnight blue colors. The rug has a narrow border with design in burnt orange, ivory and brown colors. The rug has a very special wool that shimmers under light and almost has a “silk feel” to it. It is a very desirable color combination and design rug that can work in any room design plan. The rug has an allover design of various small medallion forms set on an antique rust red color field with geometric designs in pale yellow, gray, cream, brown, and pale blue.
