21st Century Brown and Earth Colour Geometric Chuk Palu Rug from Afghanistan

About the Item

Afghan rug made by designer Rahim Walizada "Rahim Walizada is an artist who retains in his works the richness of the ancient knowledge of the women of Afghanistan: the work on the loom and the natural colors of wool and cotton. Once the textile artifacts of Afghanistan were produced with lamb and camel hair. Today they use mainly the wool of a sheep called caracol and natural cotton. Rahim expresses the richness of actualization to the modern, using however the ancient method of the frame, above all in the clear, simple and pure design. Rahim, in addition to being a very talented artist, is a man who helps free the women of his country by offering them the opportunity to express themselves through work. In addition to having a workshop of 20-30 women in the countryside far from Kabul, Rahim also allows women to work who, for family commitments or other reasons, can not leave the house, bringing work directly to their homes. With the support of the Committee Le Studentesse di Faizabad - Sapere è libertà, born in 2001 mainly to help the female figure, it was possible to bring Afghanistan for the first time to an international art exhibition, La Biennale Arte 2005 in Venice, or to open Afghanistan to the world through the representation of women’s work."
