Hand-knotted wool circa 1925, a 9x12 antique Chinese art deco rug - latest to join Rug & Kilim’s antique collection.
On the Design:
This is a rare work from the Nichols style curations of its period, with some of the most delicious jewel tones and a great condition alike. Keen eyes will note a gold field and a deep teal border underscoring floral patterns and bird pictorials, with a particular emphasis on purple and blue tones among the rich accents at play.
A masterpiece in scale with a particularly fabulous dye—exemplary of its kind.
