About the Item

This rug from the early part of the 20th century is made from naturally dyed wool from the highlands of Tibet. Wangden is the name of the valley in Tibet where these rugs originate from. Wangden is known for this type of carpet weaving which is exclusively from there and both aesthetically and technically unique to the region. These rugs were largely used in Monasteries as meditation mats. Due to its age this rug has fading of its colour, marks and spots as well as loose wool fibres. Measures: Length 140cm x Width 77cm.
