Circa 1880 Antique Wool Authentic Khotan Blue Rug
About the Item
This antique, circa 1880, Khotan rug has a deep-blue field scattered with a variety of flowerheads and leafy floral motifs around three aubergine-purple roundels the smaller at each end with a central stepped sandy-yellow rosette surrounded by angular floral vine, the central roundel with a band of stellar flowerheads around a central blue lozenge with a sandy-yellow stepped rosette issuing floral motifs, the aubergine-purple spandrels, inner stylized tree motif stripe, in a broad sandy-yellow border of stylized cloud motifs between diagonal key-pattern and angular vine stripes, outer sky-blue floral stripe.
