Doris Leslie Blau Mid-20th Century Samarkand Handmade Wool Rug
About the Item
High-quality Samarkand handmade wool rug
Size: 6'3" x 12'4" (190 × 375 cm)
This vintage rug is a fruit of the exceptional craftsmanship of weaving masters from the faraway Samarkand. Formerly woven for, inter alia, Buddhist monks to pray on, Samarkand rugs are very often characterized by lengthened sides, just as the one before your eyes. Its intriguing design incorporates five bold vase motifs filled with almost ethereal, delicately drawn plants.
