Antique Indian Palace Rug with Tabriz Design & Floral Patterns, from Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool and originating from India circa 1920-1930, this 15×31 antique palace rug is inspired by Persian rugs of Tabriz provenance—a rare and special new addition to the Rug & Kilim Collection. On the Design: Camel tone beige-browns underscore an elaborate, dense all over floral pattern of incredibly fine detail. Though one of its many beauties is the variation and movement of color, keen eyes will note especially present orange and blue tones in the many at play—as well as a notable bright green among the playful accents that give the floral patterns such a particular compliment. Admirers of the craft will appreciate this as an extremely collectible piece of its period, like few masterpieces with such a personal, intentional look and finesse of any antique, let alone an oversized rug—likely a custom aristocratic commission of its time befitting its regal nature. Condition: This antique Indian rug further enjoys good condition, with even and subdued wear consistent with its age. A rectangular piece of the lower field and border was reattached, with little to no visibility following minor restoration. Ready for the floor.
