Antique Indo-Tabriz Rug, circa 1930s
About the Item
This unusual west Persian carpet has an essentially bitonal character with a central scalloped ogival blue medallion set on a small lattice field with diminutive four petal rosettes. The en suite to the medallion corners have a bold vinery and flower pattern. The outer border is a dark blue and tan reciprocal and the main dark blue border has a geometric vine and diamond patter. The pile is low, but the effect is very decorative and offbeat in the best sense.
