Made with hand-knotted wool and silk, this custom rug sample is a bold addition to the Block Print line of Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style.
On the Design:
This piece underscores paisley-like floral patterns in beige and cream tones atop a slate gray field. Though this form represents a more minimalist approach, admirers of the craft and keen eyes will note inspiration from the paisley floral pattern and the many provenances known for repeating it in dense, deftly woven designs as this—a thoughtful and elegant new take on a traditional look.
The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. Many of our designs draw on time-honored, archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to make their own personal connection. Our contemporary approach features a subtle high-low texture, a luxurious wool-and-silk blend that beautifully catches the light, and a fresh color palette.
