1960's Earth-Tone Indian Rug with Traditional Style

About the Item

76983 Vintage Earth-Tone Indian Rug, 03'10 x 04'07. Woven with quiet majesty and the grace of centuries-old tradition, this hand-knotted wool vintage Indian rug draws from the poetic heritage of Persian-inspired design while embracing the warm, grounding tones of the earth. Its refined allover lattice pattern, composed of delicate boteh motifs—teardrop-shaped symbols of life and growth—unfolds in rhythmic repetition across a golden beige field. This symmetrical dance of motifs whispers tales of abundance and protection, echoing the timeless elegance found in the gardens and palaces of Mughal India. Framing this central field is a broad border in tranquil sand and sage tones, adorned with stylized floral medallions and curved saz leaves, each element rendered with subtle shading and care. These forms conjure the gentle sway of leaves in a warm breeze, imbuing the Indian rug with a sense of movement and breath. The overall composition reflects both restraint and richness—a hallmark of Indian artisanship that blends ornamental precision with natural harmony. Crafted from lustrous hand-spun wool, the rug's tactile surface is soft underfoot, yet resilient—a testament to the enduring skill of the weavers who brought this vision to life. The palette of quiet earth tones exudes calm and sophistication, making this piece as versatile as it is beautiful. Whether placed in a serene bedroom, a refined study, or an intimate sitting room, this rug anchors the space with a gentle strength and organic refinement. More than a decorative object, this vintage Indian rug is a woven story of heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless design. It carries with it the weight of tradition and the spirit of a natural world remembered in stylized form. With every knot and motif, it invites reflection, offering a grounded elegance to modern interiors and honoring the artistic legacy of Indian and Persian textile traditions alike. Abrash. Geru rug is a reflection of the geometrical patterns visible around the artisan home. Geru also means the natural brown dye derived from organic elements. 100% hand-spun wool and organic dyes made completely by the artisan’s families have been used in this rug. For Geru rug we are using only the 100% natural wool which is completely naturally dyed by the artisans using organic materials like tree bark, eucalyptus and herbs. Each batch of organic dye is made separately and custom to ensure richness in colors. Complete process is done by hand, which mean each piece is unique and one of a kind. A classic rug, Geru will enhance interior spaces and also support artisan communities ethically. This artisan family is a 5th generation family of master craftsmen who have handed down a unique technique of weaving rugs on an ancient loom which dates back hundreds of years. We personally collaborate with the family and intend to support their indigenous craft as there are very few families left now who can weave on this particular ancient loom. Ethically made, Geru rug is a classic neutral piece that will compliment in any interior space with its earthy pallet and stripes pattern. The white portion is undyed natural sheep wool which is handspun. Size: 4 feet x 6 feet...
