Antique Collectible Multicolor Checkerboard Midcentury Moroccan Wool Area Rug

About the Item

A rare collectible Moroccan vintage shag rug. This antique handwoven rug came from the Beni Mguild tribe from the central middle Atlas mountains. This piece came out of an important collection of Moroccan rugs that was collected early on. It was an authentic Berber piece with fringe on one end, made around the 1930s-40s. Dynamic collectible tribal rug, completely one of a kind. The supply of high quality Moroccan carpets is becoming scarce. Featuring an incredible unusual design that almost alludes to a checkerboard pattern. Beautiful natural creamy white wool patch at the top with warm purple and red tones throughout. Featuring dark checker like patterns and lots of irregularity. The color variation and movement make this such a charming and unique piece. It is made of handspun wool from sheep in the high mountains. This rug has a thick shag of lustrous soft wool with dense pile and solid structure. Medium pile height and tightly woven, giving it the perfect texture and thickness. The glossy wool and saturated colors give this rug a captivating effect. In excellent condition for its age and is a fine collectible rug. A one of a kind, unique handmade carpet. Perfect for contemporary use, whether in a midcentury modern space or a contemporary interior. Also could be used as a tapestry or wall hanging. This Moroccan carpet is part of Carini Carpets Moroccan carpet collection specially curated by Joseph Carini. On his travels around the world, Carini curates a collection of fine and rare vintage textiles and rugs, forming Joseph Carini's Private Reserve Collection. He is enamored by ancient techniques, natural dyes, and cultural symbology. Dimensions: 5’1’’ (W) x 8’3’’ (L) Materials: wool Reference #32570
