About the Item
A very unusual Berber rug from the Boujad region, located on the foothills of the central High Atlas mountains of Morocco, distinguished by an horizontally arranged pointillist pattern which changes colour at irregular intervals. Hand knotted by exclusively using silky recycled yarns, the ancient modernity of its iconography is quite characteristic of this area as well as of that of the nearby Azilal region. The result is a rug with a very thick, chunky texture. Works such as this piece were almost unknown to the west until recent times and represent the most authentic facet of Berber woven art.
