"Samalayuca" area rug is a statement piece inspired by the soft sand dunes in Samalayuca Desert in Northern Mexico. The organic curves represent the tall and dramatically shaped dunes in Samalayuca, and their constant movement with the wind. The muted neutral color palette represents the sunlight movement over the sand dunes through the course of the day. This piece has over 80 hours of rug-shaving work to imitate the ups and downs of the desert dunes, offering a wonderful tactile experience when you rest or step barefoot over the rug. This piece is 100% dyed, woven, and designed by hand and proudly crafted in Mexico. This rug is made-to-order in direct collaboration with local Mexican craftsmanship, and hand-crafted in an artisanal way, in which every step of the process in carefully executed. A certificate of authenticity from Brera Studio is always included with your piece. This shedding is normal and does not affect the durability or appearance of the rug. We recommend vacuuming your rug once a week, and daily if it's in a high-traffic area. For deep cleaning we recommend going to a wool rug cleaning specialist, using the dry method for general cleaning, and the wet method for deep cleaning. In the event of staining your rug, try to remove the stain immediately with a cleaning formula by wiping from the edge of the stain towards the center. ABOUT THE COLLECTION The "Samalayuca" Rug is part of Brera Studio´s Terra Collection. This collection is inspired on organic shapes found in nature such as sand dunes, mountains topographic levels and the irregular shapes of bodies of water. Every piece within the collection are handcrafted and made-to-order in direct collaboration with local craftsmanships and hand-crafted in an artisanal way, in which every step of the process is carefully executed. ABOUT THE STUDIO Brera Studio is a design studio established in Mexico City founded by a creative partnership between Andrea Aude and Maria Fernanda Gonzalez.
